The Chinese calendar begins late of January and early February. What we are currently using is the Western linear concept. The concept follows a straight line method, meaning, time is continued from the past, present down to the future. The concept is called the Western Solar Calendar. As the name suggests, time is based on the cycles of the sun. However, since 1911, the Chinese have started to follow the Western calendar. They use the lunar calendar only for celebrating festivities like the Chinese New Year.

There are twelve traditional animal signs for recording the years. This means that the animal sign repeats every twelve years. For people who were born in the years 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, they belong to the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Horse. Horse’ people are quite popular. Entertainment is their forte’.  They are talented individuals who are comfortable with large crowds. They can be good actors but they can never be successful in teaching.

People under the Horses’ sign are very cheerful, optimistic and sharp-minded. They are so much fun to be with and they can easily get along well with others. Even if they do not talk much, they are very sensitive and intelligent people. They have confidence in dealing and interacting with different people.
